Alabama commit essentially has a foot out the door with multiple other visits set up

There could be bad news on the way for Alabama with one of its top commitments in the 2027 recruiting class.

Slow starts to recruiting classes aren't anything new for Kalen DeBoer at Alabama. He has shaken off those slow starts in back-to-back recruiting cycles with monster runs in the summer to sign consecutive Top 5 classes.

With only four commitments for 2027 so far, it is looking like it'll take a similar summer run to pull off a third straight elite class, though Alabama's standing with many of the nation's top recruits certainly points to that happening.

But the Crimson Tide could get some bad news before the good news starts rolling in.

Long-time Alabama commitment Jabarrius "Chicken" Garror, the highest-ranked recruit in the Crimson Tide's 2027 class, appears far from solid in his commitment. Garror committed to Alabama back in the summer of 2024, but there's still a long way to go in his recruitment.

Garror, a Mobile native, remains committed to Alabama, but that won't stop him from taking a slew of summer visits to other schools.

Garror has confirmed visits to Texas A&M and Texas in June before he takes his official to Alabama later in the month. He also plans to visit Florida State and Auburn, though dates have yet to be confirmed:

Jabarrius Garror gives concerning quote about Alabama commitment status

Garror's decision to take visits while committed isn't abnormal. That happens with almost everyone. It's what made Trent Seaborn's decision NOT to take any visits this coming summer so noteworthy.

The most concerning thing with Garror right now isn't the visits; it's what he said about them and his commitment status with the Crimson Tide.

“It’s still the same with Bama I love the community and coaches but I’m still looking for the right fit to provide the things I need as a player," Garror said.

Still looking for the right fit doesn't sound like a guy who is at all solid with his commitment to Alabama. At this point, even counting him as a commitment seems foolish, and DeBoer and the Tide coaching staff are almost certainly operating as if that isn't the case.

Alabama is probably still the favorite in the recruitment of the 4-star EDGE, but DeBoer has his work cut out for him to ensure Garror ends up in the Tide's class.
