Alabama to be without Justin Hill and Desmond Umeozulu vs. South Carolina
Alabama will be without two key edge defenders this weekend against South Carolina. Justin Hill and Gamecocks transfer Desmond Umeozulu will miss the game with injuries they sustained last Saturday against Florida State. Hill is dealing with a lower-extremity injury and is expected to be out multiple weeks. Umeozulu has turf toe, and his timeline was not immediately clear.
They are difficult losses for Kane Wommack's defense, particularly against an athletic QB in LaNorris Sellers. Their absence could put the spotlight on 5-star freshman Xavier Griffin, who figures to play a bigger role. Seventh-year senior Jah-Marien Latham will also see an increase in snaps, and another freshman - Jamarion Matthews - could see extra work as well.
The injuries are less than ideal, but you have to have a "next man up" philosophy and hope that you've got guys down the depth chart ready to play.
3-star CB Preston Glasco to visit Alabama right after decommiting from UConn
One of Alabama's top remaining targets in the 2027 class is 3-star CB Preston Glasco. He decommitted from UConn this week and will now take his official visit to Tuscaloosa this weekend. This will be the second recent trip to the Capstone for Glasco. He was in attendance for the season opener against East Carolina, where he picked up an Alabama offer.
This is a major opportunity for Kalen DeBoer and company to make a move in his recruitment. It's a three-way SEC race for Glasco. Alongside Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina have made major pushes for the Peach State native.
Alabama Soccer stays perfect in SEC play with Texas A&M shutout
Wes Hart's club moved to 10-1 and 3-0 in SEC play on Thursday night with a 1-0 shutout win over Texas A&M. It was their third straight shutout to open SEC play, following wins over Auburn (1-0) and Arkansas (2-0).
It was the seventh clean sheet for keeper Madi Munguia this season. Alabama's lone goal came just before halftime, with Kily Kukan scoring for the first time this season.

Alabama softball announces fall ball schedule
Alabama softball will play six games during its fall ball schedule as Patrick Murphy's team looks to begin the journey back to the Women's College World Series.
