Alabama's biggest target at EDGE in the 2027 recruiting class was 4-star KJ Green, a prospect the Crimson Tide appeared to be out in front of for the majority of the process. But as things played out, it became evident that Green and the Crimson Tide were on different wavelengths in terms of compensation.

So Green ultimately cancelled his visit to Alabama and committed to rival LSU. Now, Alabama has been forced to pivot in its pursuit of EDGE targets.

While 4-star Tennessee native Antwan Jackson has remained the Tide's current top target - and Alabama is considered the favorite in his recruitment - Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide have begun kicking the tires on some more budget-friendly options as well.

Alabama is way out in front for Tuscaloosa 3-star EDGE rusher Jeremiah Beverly and is also pursuing another under-the-radar target at the position.

3-star EDGE Tyler Younger out of Norcross, Georgia, received an Alabama offer recently and immediately set up his official visit for next weekend:

Alabama ofers 3-star EDGE Tyler Younger, sets up official visit for June 19

Younger isn't highly rated as the No. 627 overall player in the 2027 class per the 247 composite, but the physical tools are certainly intriguing. He's listed at 6-foot-4.5 and 220 pounds. He caught the attention of the Alabama staff just like Beverly and others did recently: with a standout performance at a camp in Tuscaloosa.

The in-person evaluations have been something Alabama has done an outstanding job with in recent cycles, and DeBoer, along with position coach Christian Robinson, clearly felt good enough about Younger to extend an offer and get him on the books for a visit next weekend.

Younger's stock has really started to pick up in the last month. Since May, he's added offers from Power Four programs such as UCF, Boston College, Stanford, Rutgers, Baylor, and now Alabama. As usual, you can bet that now that the Crimson Tide has gotten involved with his recruitment, other heavy hitters are about to come calling, too.

Younger's visit to Alabama next weekend will be critical. He has taken trips this summer to see both UCF and Rutgers, but the Crimson Tide has likely positioned itself well in his recruitment, assuming things go smoothly when he's in town.

He may not be as heralded as others in this class, but Younger is the type of player who has long-term potential that can be brought out by the coaching staff. He may not be ready to contribute immediately, but he's a worthwhile upside swing due to his raw physical tools.
