Alabama football offer could force an Arizona State commit to make a fast decision

Kalen DeBoer and Alabama are still looking for a handful of prospects to fill out their 2027 recruiting class. While a lot of the Crimson Tide's attention has shifted to a higher-priority 2028 cycle, there are still a few slots they would like to fill in this smaller class.

Alabama has sent out a few new offers recently. The most recent came on Wednesday when the Crimson Tide extended an offer to 3-star CB Dylin Bruce, a Huntington Beach, California native who committed to Arizona State back in June:

Bruce is an interesting offer from Alabama. He's certainly talented, ranked as the No. 573 overall player in the composite. But he's only listed at 6 feet, which strays from the bigger corners that Maurice Linguist typically covets. Linguist has typically focused on corners more in the 6-foot-3+ range.

Bruce seems solid with his commitment to Arizona State, but Alabama could change that. He told Rivals that the offer was meaningful.

"I didn't see it coming, but Bama is a big-time program, so it means a lot," Bruce said, via Greg Biggins.

We should learn pretty quickly how serious Bruce is about Alabama. Per 247's Olivia Sayer, the Sun Devils have a "no visit" policy, meaning they don't allow their commits to continue to take visits elsewhere, and could pull his offer if he decides to take a trip to Tuscaloosa:

So if Bruce decides to take a trip to Alabama, it should be seen as a strong sign of a potential flip. He wouldn't put his Arizona State offer in jeopardy unless he was feeling pretty sure about a future in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama is in pursuit of adding at least one more CB in this class. Currently, 3-star Darrius White is the lone commitment at the position for the Crimson Tide in the 2027 cycle. But they are ramping up their pursuit of others.

Alabama cranked up the heat recently with UConn CB commit Preston Glasco. Glasco recently took a trip to Tuscaloosa and will be back in town next Saturday for the Crimson Tide's matchup against South Carolina. Getting him back on campus for a second time recently should bode well in Alabama's pursuit of a flip.

Would Alabama take Bruce as well, or is he meant to serve as a potential backup if things don't work out with Glasco? That remains to be seen. But Alabama isn't throwing out an offer this late in the cycle just to do it. There's obviously something they really like about the California native, and they would love to try to get him to campus at some point.
