Kalen DeBoer and Alabama have made a strong push to flip 4-star WR Samson Gash away from Michigan State. The Novi, Michigan native has been committed to the Spartans since June, but the Crimson Tide has made him a priority down the stretch in the 2026 class.
Gash took a visit over the weekend to Tuscaloosa for the LSU game. All reports indicate that the visit went well, and Alabama feels good about its chances of flipping him between now and the early signing day next month.

Gash is a consensus 4-star recruit and the No. 362 overall player in the 247 composite. Gash is known as a speedster and won a State Championship in Michigan in the 100-meter Dash. His 10.41 time is the fastest recorded time in the event in state history.
He's more than just speed, though. Gash is more polished than many might believe on the surface. He runs solid routes and looks like a natural wide receiver. 247's Allen Trieu recently scouted him and compared him to former Michigan WR Roman Wilson, who was a third-round pick in the NFL Draft.
Gash's father is former NFL FB Sam Gash, who played college football at Penn State.
Alabama likely to flip Michigan State WR commit Sam Gash
Alabama already holds commitments from three wide receivers in the 2026 class. The headliner is 5-star in-state WR Cederian Morgan, who is fully locked in with the Crimson Tide. The other two are upside plays in 3-stars Owen Cabell and Brian Williams Jr.
Alabama won't sign four receivers in this class.
Gash is likely going to be a replacement for Williams, who is not expected to end up in the Crimson Tide's class.
Williams has not developed during his senior year of high school like the Alabama staff expected. He's currently ranked as a 3-star and ranked as the No. 144 overall WR in the class. Gash would be a significant upgrade in that spot.
Williams has the physical traits, but they haven't translated to production like the Tide coaching staff hoped. He recently took a visit to USF and is expected to end up somewhere like that.
Gash, the No. 5 overall player in the state of Michigan, would be a nice late addition to the class for DeBoer and Alabama. He could be a player who makes an immediate impact, too.
