Kalen DeBoer and Alabama are intently focused on the 2026 class as they go into a crucial summer filled with official visits and evaluations that will shape the recruiting class. But that doesn't mean they don't have their eyes further down the road and on the 2027 class.
Alabama recently extended an offer to the No. 1 WR in the 2027 class, according to On3, Monshun Sales. Sales, a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, is listed at 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds. He's a 4-star for now, but will likely end up as a composite 5-star as more time passes.
After receiving the offer from the Crimson Tide, Sales called Alabama his "dream school."
It should come as no surprise that a 2027 WR recruit would view Alabama as his dream school. His formative years watching football growing up would have occurred during the Crimson Tide's "Ryde Out" era of DeVonta Smith, Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs, and Jaylen Waddle. All four of those guys were first-round picks in the NFL Draft.
While Alabama hasn't been able to come close to that level of talent at WR since, the current WR room is giving "Ryde Out" vibes.
Alabama's WR recruiting will continue to be elite under JaMarcus Shephard
One of the most exciting aspects of adding Kalen DeBoer was the coaching staff he brought with him. JaMarcus Shephard might be the best WR coach in the entire country. His ability to evaluate wide receivers is well documented. Shephard hit another under-the-radar home run with Lotzeir Brooks, who was undervalued in last season's recruiting class and looks to immediately carve out a role for the 2025 Tide.
The WR room this season will look much different than last. Shephard and DeBoer had to flip the room. It was noteworthy that Alabama's top two receivers last year were a true freshman and a transfer from Washington. With Miami's Isaiah Horton and the freshman Brooks added to the fold, among others, the Crimson Tide should have one of the better WR rooms in the country.
In the 2026 class, Alabama sits in pretty good position for 5-star in-state WR Cederian Morgan.
Shephard has Alabama in good position to continue stockpiling talent in the WR room.
