Kalen DeBoer might be ready to stick the first dagger into Lane Kiffin's plans for LSU to take over the SEC by grabbing a top prospect from his backyard.
Alabama is the favorite to land four-star running back Trey Martin over LSU, Florida State and Houston, among others. Martin, who is from Winnsboro in the northeast corner of Louisiana, also recently claimed an offer from Ohio State last month.

Martin seems to be completely focused on the Crimson Tide and has scheduled an official visit to Tuscaloosa for June 5. He is also expected to visit campus at least once during this spring, and he could very well make a commitment during one of those visits.
RB target Trey Martin is hot on the Crimson Tide
Martin received an offer from Alabama last October and has built a strong relationship with running backs coach Robert Gillespie. He was on campus for the Tide's 20-9 win over LSU last season and told Brett Greenberg of 247Sports about his connection with Gillespie and what getting the offer from Alabama meant to a small-town kid from his part of Louisiana.
"Coach (Gillespie) is my guy, I have learned so much about him and he has learned more about me," Martin said to Greenberg at the time. "He is saying a lot. I am hard working, hard running, a physical (running) back and I am what a 'Bama running back looks like."
If Martin commits soon, he's likely to be one of two running backs that the Crimson Tide would like to sign in the 2027 class. Alabama is in on some other top targets, including blue chipper Nigel Newkirk from Gainesville, Georgia. The Crimson Tide's focus on rebuilding the running game started by signing five-star EJ Crowell in the 2026 class and now DeBoer wants to add high-level depth to the backfield for years to come.
