Alabama's offensive line overhaul continued on Friday night. Shortly after landing a commitment from Cal Poly's Racin Delgatty, Texas freshman offensive tackle Nick Brooks committed to the Crimson Tide just a few days after officially entering his name into the portal.

Brooks joins Delgatty to give Alabama four Transfer Portal additions on the offensive line as Kalen DeBoer has completely overhauled that unit up front. That comes after a disappointing season for the Tide's OL. Alabama struggled to protect Ty Simpson and put together one of the worst rushing seasons in school history.

Texas freshman OL Nick Brooks is a big get for Alabama in the Transfer Portal

Brooks signed with Texas out of high school in the 2025 class as a consensus 4-star recruit out of Longanville, GA. At 6-foot-7 and 349 pounds, Brooks is a mammoth offensive tackle who has some positional versatility and athleticism to move fluidly.

Brooks entered the season as Texas' backup at LT, but eventually started three games for the Longhorns at guard due to injury. He only played in four games total, though, so Brooks was able to maintain his redshirt year in Austin. That means he'll come to Tuscaloosa with four years of eligibility.

Brooks should be an immediate factor in Alabama's left tackle competition. With Kadyn Proctor declaring for the draft, Alabama has a void on the blindside. Brooks will compete with fellow redshirt freshmen Jackson Lloyd and Ty Haywood (Michigan transfer). If Lloyd wins the job, both Brooks and Haywood have positional flexibility that they could shift inside to guard.

Alabama's offensive line is coming together, and DeBoer and company aren't done yet. They are heavily in the mix for Ole Miss transfer guard Ethan Fields, who is currently in Tuscaloosa on a visit as well.

DeBoer and GM Courtney Morgan wanted to flip the OL room in the Transfer Portal, and they've done excellent work in doing so.

After some tense early moments in the portal, things are starting to come together for the Crimson Tide.
