Since suffering a fourth-quarter injury in last week's Iron Bowl, Alabama RB Jam Miller seemed unlikely to be able to play in this weekend's SEC Championship Game against Georgia. A small ray of optimism came up on Wednesday, however, when Miller was listed as "questionable" on the Crimson Tide's availability report.

Miller remained questionable on Thursday's updated report, but on Friday, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that Miller faced "long odds" to be able to play against Georgia with the lower leg injury he suffered against Georgia.

Miller has had an up-and-down, injury-plagued senior season in Tuscaloosa. He missed the first three games of the season after suffering a dislocated collarbone in the Tide's final scrimmage of fall camp. He returned for the regular season meeting against Georgia, but a few weeks later suffered a concussion against Missouri. He didn't miss time, but his effectiveness was limited since then.

After a few weeks of struggling, Miller produced one of his best games of the season against Auburn before getting injured late. Miller produced 83 yards on 15 carries in the game.

Daniel Hill will take the featured role in the SEC Championship if Jam Miller can't play

Redshirt freshman Daniel Hill has been the No. 2 back for a couple of months now and has had several games where he was featured more prominently than Miller.

Hill should be able to hold up to a higher workload. He touched the ball 20 times against Oklahoma (15 carries, 5 receptions).

The concern will be down the depth chart past Hill. With redshirt freshman Kevin Riley out with a broken jaw, Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama offensive staff will have to rely on freshman AK Dear or senior Dre Washington, neither of whom has seen much meaningful playing time this year, to spell Hill.

Redshirt sophomore Richard Young, who started the season-opener against Florida State in Miller's absence, has clearly fallen out of favor with the coaching staff. Young went from September 13th against Wisconsin all the way to November 22nd against Eastern Illinois without receiving a carry.

When he did finally get a touch against Eastern Illinois, Young was the last scholarship running back who was put into the game, behind both Dear and Washington.

I wouldn't expect him to factor into this week's game plan.

Alabama will get everything it can out of Hill, and then spell him at times with Dear and Washington. We might also see some snaps where Germie Bernard lines up in the backfield - he's taken a few handoffs this season himself.
