Alabama on verge of losing 5-star commit to Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss

This would be a big recruiting blow.

Did this news really have to drop right now? As most of you know, recruiting never sleeps, not even for a second. For the Alabama Crimson Tide and head coach Kalen DeBoer, this unfortunately is a bad thing, as it looks like a prized commit might be ready to flip.

Since July, 5-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham has been an Alabama verbal and Crimson Tide fans have been fired up about his potential. However, Cunningham was at Ole Miss on Saturday to watch the Rebels take down Georgia in convincing fashion.

It was his second trip to Oxford in the past three weeks. Not long after the final whistle from the Ole Miss win over Kirby Smart and Co., recruiting experts Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong BOTH put in predictions that the elite prospect is going to flip from Alabama to Ole Miss. Yeah, this is not good news for DeBoer and his staff:

5-star WR Caleb Cunningham is expected to flip from Alabama to Ole Miss

Cunningham is a 6-1, 190-pounder from Mississippi. Kiffin is doing everything in his power to keep the speedster in state and it looks like he's about to get that job done. Cunningham is a big-time talent and he's one of the top WRs in the country.

Throughout his recruitment, Cunningham has picked up offers from Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia and many others. He took official visits to Alabama, Tennessee, Florida and Auburn.

Cunningham is one of five 5-star commits for Alabama, but it doesn't seem like he's going to be on the team's verbals list for much longer. Kiffin has to be riding high after his team topped Georgia, but now things are going to get even better for him on the recruiting trail. Unfortunately, it's going to come at Alabama's expense.
