With the 2026 class mostly in the bag, Kalen DeBoer and Alabama are turning their focus toward the 2027 class. That will really ramp up this weekend as the Crimson Tide hosts a ton of elite prospects for their annual Junior Day.
Ahead of a pivotal recruiting weekend, one of the players who will be in Tuscaloosa went ahead and trimmed his list of schools down to four. And the Crimson Tide made the cut.
4-star LB Kenneth Simon II, the son of former Tennessee LB Kenneth Simon, named Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M as the four schools left alive in his recruitment.

Kenneth Simon II names Alabama one of his final four schools
Simon is ranked as a consensus 4-star LB and the No. 15 LB in the 2027 class, per the 247 composite.
Alabama is in the race for a ton of elite recruits in the 2027 class. After signing back-to-back Top 5 classes in his first two cycles as the Crimson Tide's head coach, DeBoer has a chance to push for the No. 1 class in the 2027 cycle.
Linebacker will be a position of focus for Alabama in this class after only signing two during the 2026 class. 5-star Xavier Griffin, who might begin his career off-ball, and 3-star Zay Hall were the lone additions in this past class, though the Crimson Tide did sign four linebackers in the 2025 haul.
Simon has the versatility that Kane Wommack has shown to covet in his defense. The Brentwood, Tennessee native began his high school career playing safety before shifting into the box and playing linebacker. He's listed at only 190 pounds, so he'll undoubtedly need some time in a collegiate strength and conditioning program before he's able to make an impact.
With Simon in town for Junior Day, Alabama will look to take a leap forward in his recruitment.
