Alabama picks up a couple of key predictions to land underrated but coveted CB

Star rankings don't tell the tale with this 3-star prospect who is trending toward an Alabama commitment.

Alabama has been in good shape throughout the recruitment of 3-star CB Darrius White, and little has changed despite some summer official visits as he nears a decision.

Kalen DeBoer and DBs coach Maurice Linguist have made White, a native of Fairburn, Georgia, a priority throughout the process. And while White is only a 3-star recruit in the composite rankings and ranked No. 451 overall, the fact that Georgia and Tennessee have both recruited him hard - alongside Alabama - should tell you that he's not properly rated for the player he is capable of becoming.

White is set to make an announcement on July 4th, though a decision could certainly come sooner, and Alabama is trending heavily ahead of that decision.

Per the Rivals Prediction Machine, BamaOnline's Tim Watts and Andrew Bone logged predictions on Sunday for White to ultimately commit to Alabama.

Defensive back recruiting has not been a concern since Linguist arrived in Tuscaloosa. It obviously never was a concern under Nick Saban, either, but any worry that DB recruiting would slip with DeBoer taking over was quickly put to bed when he hired Linguist.

Alabama has routinely landed some of the top prospects in the country out of the high school ranks. They've landed a 5-star CB in three straight recruiting cycles: Zabien Brown, Dijon Lee, and Jorden Edmonds.

White may not be a 5-star, but he fits the mold of the types of corners that Linguist has prioritized with his length and speed. White is listed at 6-foot-3 and will fit in nicely with the other big corners that Linguist has brought to Tuscaloosa.

White would give Alabama some much-needed recruiting momentum, and he's a player who figures to rise in the rankings during his senior season.

The defensive backfield hasn't been a huge priority this offseason, with Lee expected back for his junior season in 2027 and both Edmonds and Zyan Gibson being highly regarded true freshmen in 2026. But Linguist likes White a lot, and he's a player who could get on the field quicker than his ranking would have you believe.

The Crimson Tide remains in contention for 4-star Hayden Stepp at CB as well. That recruitment appears to be a battle between Alabama and Oregon.

Alabama wrapped up its final visit weekend of the summer, and there should be plenty of good news on the horizon for a class that desperately needs it.
