Always be 'crootin'. That is the name of the game in college sports, and especially at a place like the University of Alabama. Kalen DeBoer is entering his third season at the helm of the football program, hoping to leave his mark on it and to finally get out of the shadow of Nick Saban. It will not be easy, but he does seem to have a plan here. He wants to get players like Darrius White to commit to Bama.
At this point in time, these are the two programs that White has taken an offiicial visit to this summer.
- Tennessee Volunteers: May 22
- Alabama Crimson Tide: May 29
After having just visited Alabama, White still has three three programs left to visit later this month...
- North Carolina State Wolfpack: June 5
- Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets: June 12
- Cincinnati Bearcats: June 19
At this time, On3/Rivals' Steve Wiltfong feels more than comfortable by predicting White to Alabama.

For even more context, here is how On3/Rivals views Alabama's chances of landing White for 2027.
- Alabama Crimson Tide: 92.8 percent
- Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets: 2.2 percent
- Georgia Bulldogs: 1.9 percent
- Tennessee Volunteers: 1.2 percent
- North Carolina State Wolfpack: 1.2 percent
According to the 247Sports Composite, White is the No. 46 player from Georgia, the No. 43 cornerback in the country, and the No. 439 recruit nationally in the 2027 recruiting cycle. While he is slated to make his commitment on the Fourth of July, he might already have picked Alabama long before the United States of America's 250th birthday. Alabama fans are hoping that White does.
White has been on commit watch for Alabama for a minute now, so maybe he does it in a few weeks?
Darrius White should be committing to Alabama in roughly a month or so
If we are to read the tea leaves here a bit, White will make his upcoming visit to Raleigh to see what Dave Doeren's North Carolina State Wolfpack program is all about, before making the big decision he ultimately has to come to: Will he go out-of-state to play for Alabama, or will he stay home to play for Brent Key at Georgia Tech? The Fairburn, Georgia native seems like he wants to go into Central Time...
Outside of Doeren, the head coaches of the four other schools White has visited or is slated to visit favor the offensive side of the ball. Doeren may have played tight end in college, but DeBoer, Key, Josh Heupel, and Scott Satterfield all moved up the coaching ranks on offense. Not that it should matter, but playing for a former Group of Five head coach in Kane Wommack on defense should work.

Overall, we have to accept what Wiltfong predicts as gospel. He does not put his name on something unless he believes it is about to happen. He rarely misses. Still, we have a little more than a month before White is supposedly making his big decision on Independence Day. However, we did see another player recently commit to Alabama before he was supposed to in four-star Nigel Newkirk...
As long as White feels as comfortable in Tuscaloosa as Newkirk does, he should be committing soon.
