Alabama DB coach Maurice Linguist has a type when he's recruiting corners.
He prefers the long, rangy types, and Alabama has consistently gone after them since Linguist stepped into the position on Kalen DeBoer's first staff. Guys like Dijon Lee, Jorden Edmonds, and Mercer transfer Carmelo O'Neal all fit the mold.
So does Alabama's latest offer.
6-foot-4 JUCO CB Alius Mayo out of Modesto Junior College in Stockton, California reported an Alabama offer this week, and now Mayo is set to visit the Crimson Tide this weekend:

Alabama offers, sets up visit with 6-foot-4 JUCO CB Alius Mayo
Mayo's recruitment out of junior college is beginning to pick up steam. Alabama is the fifth Power Four program to extend an offer to him, joining Arizona State, Cal, Louisville, and Mississippi State.
You can bet that he's going to pick up more between now and December, now that Alabama has jumped in.
The offer to Mayo could be viewed as potentially bad news in Alabama's pursuit of 4-star CB Hayden Stepp, who is fresh off a visit to Oregon. Alabama has been pursuing Stepp and 3-star Darrius White, for whom the Crimson Tide still sits in excellent shape.
Alabama is also a finalist for 5-star John Meredith III, who will make his announcement on Friday. But they are a finalist in name only, as the Lone Star State product will be choosing between Texas and Texas A&M after not taking a summer official visit to Tuscaloosa.
In reality, Mayo's recruitment is likely unrelated to any of the others and instead stems from an in-person evaluation by Linguist.
Mayo was in Tuscaloosa for an unofficial visit on Wednesday, and that's when he earned an offer directly from the Tide's DB coach. He'll now stick around through the weekend on an official visit as Alabama looks to build momentum with its 2027 class on the final official visit weekend of the summer.
Mayo took an official visit to Cal last weekend, but his excitement over the Alabama offer and his decision to stay on campus for a few extra days should be a sign that the Crimson Tide is in pretty good shape in his recruitment.
