4-star RB Ezavier Crowell is Kalen DeBoer and Alabama's top target at RB in the 2026 recruiting class. They'll find out pretty soon whether they're able to land the in-state product who reclassified into the 2026 class a little while ago.

Crowell has officially announced a commitment date, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett:

According to On3, Crowell ranks as the No. 2 RB in the 2026 class and the No. 23 overall player. He has been a priority target for DeBoer and the staff for a while now.

Crowell originally planned to announce his commitment on New Year's Eve, but has since moved the date up considerably. His commitment announcement will come a week after the end of his official visit schedule.

While Florida and Georgia are both listed among the final six schools he is considering, Crowell only has visits scheduled to Alabama, Auburn, Texas, and Florida State. He has taken unofficial visits to both Florida and Georgia, but he currently doesn't have an official set up for either.

Alabama is seen as the heavy favorite for Crowell

RB coach Robert Gillespie has done an outstanding job building the relationship with Crowell. At this point in time, the Crimson Tide is seen as the heavy favorite in Crowell's recruitment. That could change with his official visit schedule, as the red carpet will be rolled out everywhere he goes.

Crowell has been in Tuscaloosa a lot more than he's been anywhere else during his recruitment. In the last 15 months, he's unofficially visited Alabama eight times.

Alabama will get the last visit on Crowell's schedule, beginning just six days before his scheduled commitment announcement of June 26th.

Texas was long seen as the biggest competition for Alabama with Crowell. He had a strong relationship with Tashard Choice, but with Choice leaving Austin to take the RB coach job with the Detroit Lions, that has helped the Tide create some distance in his recruitment.

On3's RPM (Recruiting Prediction Machine) currently gives Alabama an 87.5% chance of signing Crowell. He's one of the top three players in the state of Alabama in the 2026 class, and as things stand right now, Alabama has the lead for them all.
