Saturday's annual A-Day scrimmage at Saban Field inside Bryant-Denny Stadium began as business as usual for Alabama's wide receiver room—until the tone shifted in an instant. When emerging NC State transfer Noah Rogers went down with a left foot injury and was carted off, it forced an immediate reshuffling of reps and cracked open the door for those lower on the depth chart to step into expanded snaps in real time. And like a stage understudy suddenly forced into the spotlight on opening night, freshman Cedarian Morgan didn't flinch when his number was called—he owned it.Â
The 6-foot-4, 223-pound target injected a jolt of energy into the Crimson Tide offense, breaking loose for the longest gain of the day on a 40-yard toss from redshirt freshman quarterback Keelon Russell, then punctuating his emergence with a touchdown near the corner of the end zone.Â

Afterward, veteran junior wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams had nothing but praise for Morgan when speaking to reporters on his early impression of the freshman standout.
Ryan Coleman-Williams praises Morgan's work ethic after impressive outing in Alabama's A-Day game
"Man, that's my dog," Coleman-Williams said. "Really just seeing him, he's stacking days early on. He's still learning and stuff because he's only been here 24 seconds... We call him the Gulf of Mexico—you throw it in there, he's gonna catch it. He's got plenty of space. I'm just super proud of my guy, we've got two more practices and we're ready to continue to work."
This report on Morgan from Alabama's alpha receiver should fall well on the ears of Crimson Tide fans if Rogers has to miss any extended period of time, especially after hearing Kalen DeBoer speak on how the Tide plans to gauge the severity of Rogers MRI results.
Kalen DeBoer seems uncertain about Noah Rogers status moving forward coming out of A-Day
"He will have to get evaluated," DeBoer said. "Unfortunate with him getting dinged up. We'll kind of see what that looks like. We'll have more information here as we go through the spring and summer."
For Alabama, the bigger picture coming out of Saturday isn't just the status of Rogers—it's how quickly someone else can answer the call when opportunity opens up. At the receiver positions, most injuries in spring don't define an entire season, but they do reshape the reps that decide one. And in that window, Morgan didn't just look the part—he played as if he belonged in the conversation already.Â
Whether Rogers' absence proves to be short-term or more significant, Alabama left Saturday with at least one positive takeaway from this situation: the depth chart at receiver is still very much deep, and competition in Tuscaloosa doesn't pause for unforeseen circumstances. Regardless, it'll be interesting to see how Morgan builds off of this performance as the freshman looks to play his way into more of an established role this fall in the 2026 Crimson Tide offense.Â
