Dan Lanning and Oregon are feeling pretty darn good right now, aren't they? On Saturday, the No. 7 Ducks hosted No. 15 USC in what was supposed to be a back-and-forth affair. Instead, Oregon cruised to a 42-27 win and Lanning has some extra pep in his step.
Yahoo writer disagrees with Nick Saban's rant about Lane Kiffin and he has receipts
So much in fact, he's directing some of his confidence towards the SEC - and he's doing so in a way that people are going to like in that part of the country. Shortly after taking down the Trojans, Lanning took a clear shot at the SEC over some teams playing what we all know as a cupcake game. Well, Alabama was in action against Eastern Illinois, which Lanning definitely knew about:

"This conference is a really good conference, it's competitive. We didn't play Chattanooga State today, like some other places, right? We competed." https://t.co/NmpkUbNhSQ pic.twitter.com/B1CASXc4TM
Dan Lanning didn't hold back with his thoughts on the SEC's cupcake games
On Saturday, Texas A&M hosted Samford, while Georgia played Charlotte, LSU faced off against Western Kentucky and the Tide were in action against Eastern Illinois. In the win for Kalen DeBoer and his players, they barely broke a sweat.
Ty Simpson was a little off with his two interceptions, but he wasn't even really needed in this one. Freshman 5-star quarterback Keelon Russell ended up getting plenty of action, as did fellow signal-caller Austin Mack.
With so many SEC teams playing their 'cupcake game' this weekend, we can see why Lanning was a bit annoyed with his postgame comments. At the same time, shouldn't he a bit more worried about his big win over USC and not what the SEC was doing?
Lanning has never been one to hide his emotions. He also didn't seem to have a problem with these kinds of games when he was a defensive coordinator with Georgia. His time in Athens was of course highlighted by winning the natty with the Dawgs in 2022.
He's now making a splash with Oregon and the Big Ten (still feels weird to say that, right?) powerhouse is ready to make some noise in the College Football Playoff. How sweet would it be to see an SEC team send him back to Eugene with a loss? We don't want to speak for the Alabama faithful, but you'd have to assume they'd love to see Bama take care of business and ruin things for Oregon down the road.
