Jett Thomalla may not be the last prospect Alabama flips: Here's who could be next

Alabama found its QB in the 2026 class on Tuesday by flipping 4-star Jett Thomalla from Iowa State.

Kalen DeBoer and company have been aggressive in their pursuit of a QB in this class as they look to build depth for the future behind Keelon Russell. Despite Thomalla's commitment, Alabama is expected to continue its pursuit of three others they recently offered: Matt Ponatoski, Tayden Kaawa, and Bryson Beaver. Ideally, it's a two-QB class for the Crimson Tide.

Thomalla's flip builds more momentum for Alabama on the recruiting trail as they enter a big official visitor weekend. Most of the focus nationally is on uncommitted prospects as decision dates near for some of the Tide's top targets.

But Alabama is also still pursuing players who are committed to others. It is flip season, after all. Thomalla isn't likely to be the only player Alabama successfully flips from another program in this class.

Let's take a look at three players who should be on flip watch for DeBor and company:

These three prospects could join Jett Thomalla in flipping to Alabama

RB Javian Mallory

Alabama hosted Miami (FL) commitment Javian Mallory in Tuscaloosa over the weekend for an official visit. While he won't be an easy flip from the Hurricanes, he noted that the Crimson Tide "checked all the boxes" on his official.

No team in the country can pitch more recent pro success at the RB position than Alabama. The Crimson Tide had three of the top six leading rushers in the NFL last season, and four running backs who broke 1000 yards.

Alabama's top priority at RB in the 2026 class is in-state 5-star Ezavier Crowell. They've also been aggressive in pursuing 4-star Derrek Cooper. DeBoer wants two backs in this class, and landing both Crowell and Cooper isn't likely.

Landing one of those two and adding Mallory as a supplemental piece in the backfield would be a home run in this cycle.

WR Kenny Darby

During his official visit to Alabama, LSU WR commit Kenny Darby announced that he would make a final decision between the Crimson Tide and Tigers on July 4th.

Darby was originally committed to Mississippi State before flipping to the home-state Tigers. He won't be an easy pull, but Alabama WR coach JaMarcus Shephard has made him a priority with multiple trips to Louisiana ultimately paying off with Darby taking an official visit.

Alabama recently called off their pursuit of 5-star WR Tristen Keys. The Tide will host 5-star Cederian Morgan this weekend, and remains the favorite in his recruitment. Alabama would like to add three receivers in this class. Along with Morgan and Darby, Alabama has been linked to Boobie Feaster, Brian Williams Jr. and Owen Cabell.

CB Jaedyn Terry

4-star CB Jaedyn Terry committed to Georgia Tech back in March, but Alabama has turned up the heat on his recruitment. Terry earned an offer from the Alabama staff and hosted him for an official visit last weekend.

Alabama already has two corners committed in this class with 5-star Jorden Edmonds and 4-star Zyan Gibson. They would love to add one more. Terry's offer came the same weekend 5-star Brandon Arrington was in Tuscaloosa for a visit, and signaled what was to come with Arrington dropping the Crimson Tide to focus on Oregon and Texas A&M.

Terry is scheduled for an official visit to Kentucky this weekend, and while he remains committed to the Yellow Jackets, there's a lot of momentum in Alabama's favor to flip him.
