It always seemed inevitable that 4-star QB Trent Seaborn would be part of Alabama's 2027 class. The Thompson star has been a frequent visitor to Tuscaloosa this year and last, and all it seemed like it was going to take was Kalen DeBoer and Alabama pushing for his commitment.

They did over the weekend.

In the aftermath of a big visitor weekend where recruits saw an incredible Bryant-Denny Stadium environment with Alabama beating Tennessee 37-20, Seaborn decided now was the time to make his pledge. He committed to the Crimson Tide on Monday, giving Alabama a head start on QB recruiting in the 2027 class.

A consensus 4-star recruit, Seaborn ranks as the No. 18 QB in the class, per the 247 composite. He's been the starter at powerhouse Thompson High School since the 8th grade. He has all the leadership and intangibles you could possibly want out of a QB, if not quite the physical ability of some of the others.

Seaborn is the fifth commitment for DeBoer and the Crimson Tide in this class. He joins Top 100 EDGE Jabarrius Garror, 4-star OL Jatori Williams, 4-star WR Alexander Ward, and 3-star CB Nash Johnson III. Alabama is on the precipice of signing a second consecutive Top 5 class in 2026, and now DeBoer has a jump start on that for the 2027 class.

Alabama could take multiple QBs in the 2027 class again

Alabama may not be done recruiting at the QB position for the 2027 class. Even after landing Seaborn, Alabama is unlikely to stop pushing for 5-star Elijah Haven, the No. 1 QB in the class. He was also in Tuscaloosa for a visit during the Tennessee game, and Alabama made a strong impression on the Louisiana native.

Alabama has yet to offer 4-star Gunner Rivers, the son of former NFL QB Philip Rivers. Rivers is a consensus Top 100 player in the 2027 class, and Alabama could ultimately make a push for him if they miss out on Haven.

Alabama is doing its due diligence on Rivers. QB coach Nick Sheridan was recently in attendance to scout Rivers in person. In-person evaluations have been pivotal in the recruiting process for DeBoer and his staff.

In-person evaluations led to an offer and flip of Keelon Russell during the 2025 cycle, well before Russell blew up during his senior season and became the No. 2 overall player in the class. This staff knows how to evaluate talent, particularly at QB.

Seaborn's commitment is huge, as it means any other QB they may land during the 2027 cycle is a luxury.
