Kalen DeBoer and Alabama are cooking in the Transfer Portal. After landing several impact offensive linemen in the last couple of days, and then adding coveted Oregon DL Terrance Green on Saturday, the Crimson Tide found some much-needed depth off the edge.

South Carolina transfer Desmond Umeozulu committed to Alabama on Sunday to give the Crimson Tide another talented pass rusher to add to its stable:

South Carolina EDGE Desmond Umeozulu commits to Alabama

Umeozulu comes to Alabama with one year of eligibility remaining and adds some much-needed depth for the Crimson Tide off the edge. He'll likely fluctuate between the Bandit and Wolf positions in Kane Wommack's defense, adding a pass rushing dynamic on the other side of Yhonzae Pierre on obvious passing downs.

He'll bring more versatility to Alabama's front-seven, and will allow Wommack to get real creative mixing and matching depending on what the offense is showing.

Umeozulu spent three seasons with the Gamecocks and was the primary backup the last couple of seasons behind Dylan Stewart.

After losing Qua Russaw and Noah Carter to the Transfer Portal, Alabama needed pass rushing in the portal, and they found it with Umeozulu. He's 6-foot-6 and 250 pounds, and should be able to hold up for reps at Bandit on the defensive line as well as playing some early down Wolf.

The South Carolina transfer becomes the 16th portal addition for the Crimson Tide. DeBoer and GM Courtney Morgan have completely flipped the narrative over the last week after a difficult start. They have continued to add players who can be depth pieces, along with guys who will make an immediate impact in Tuscaloosa next season.

With only one year left, Umeozulu will come to Alabama with something to prove.
