Kalen DeBoer's tenure in Tuscaloosa has been far from ideal, especially with the embarrassing loss to then-unranked Florida State.
However, as Crimson Tide fans began to grow desperate to see the once-undeniable energy from DeBoer, all the Alabama head coach needed was for his team to earn a double-digit shutout victory for him to bring the hype that once came so naturally.
In Week 2, DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide hosted the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks and came up with a scoreline that was far from expected but far from overdue. Alabama earned the 73-0 victory, and even with the perfect score, DeBoer wanted more from his team.

When Alabama hired DeBoer, he had one of the highest winning percentages of any head coach in the country, and he had just led the Washington Huskies to a National Championship appearance against the Michigan Wolverines.
However, his first season with the Tide was far from perfect as Alabama finished with a 9-4 overall record and a loss to the Wolverines in the Reliaquest Bowl. Then, in Week 1, the Crimson Tide was obliterated by unranked Florida State.
Simply put, people were calling for DeBoer's head on a platter. Then, he brought the energy and the win that Alabama fans had been screaming for.
DeBoer's hype wasn't unfounded as starting quarterback Ty Simpson completed 100 percent of his passes for 226 yards and three touchdowns, and running back AK Dear earned 76 yards and one touchdown on just five carries.
No, the 73-point victory didn't cement DeBoer's job in Tuscaloosa, but it did undeniably take a step in the right direction as Crimson Tide fans received the blowout victory that they had been starved of since DeBoer took over the program.
At 1-1 overall, DeBoer and Alabama will host the Wisconsin Badgers in a big-time non-conference matchup. The Crimson Tide and the Badgers are scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 13, and the game will be broadcast on ABC.
