Alabama had a long run of success in producing elite talent at the WR position under Nick Saban. From Julio Jones to Amari Cooper to Calvin Ridley, and then into the "Ryde Outs" era with Jerry Jeudy, DeVonta Smith, Henry Ruggs, and Jaylen Waddle. It's been one elite pro after another for the Crimson Tide.

That's not slowing down under Kalen DeBoer.

With Germie Bernard's selection at No. 47 overall in the 2nd Round by the Pittsburgh Steelers, he became the fifth WR from Washington's 2023 WR room - DeBoer's last season in Seattle - to be selected within the first three rounds of the NFL Draft.

Kalen DeBoer's track record with WRs continues to impress

DeBoer will likely produce his second first-round WR in the 2027 class with Ryan Coleman-Williams, if the rising junior has the kind of bounce-back season that many expect him to have.

Alabama also has an impressive crop of young receivers on the current roster, including rising sophomores Lotzeir Brooks and Derek Meadows, to go along with impressive true freshman Cederian Morgan, who turned plenty of heads during spring practice.

Any opposing coach trying to negative recruit about Alabama's receiver production tailing off in the post-Saban world, they don't have a leg to stand on.

DeBoer is producing receivers at a high rate, just like his predecessor.

It's certainly a pitch that should help Alabama in its pursuit of 5-star WR Monshun Sales, the No. 1 in the 2027 recruiting class. Sales, an Alabama native, plays high school football in Indianapolis and is being pursued by all the heavy hitters.

The Tide's main competition is coming from Indiana, Ohio State, Miami, and now Texas.

DeBoer can sell Sales on his history of producing pros at the position, regardless of how deep the WR room is. Sales would join an Alabama WR room that features all the impressive young receivers listed above, aside from Coleman-Williams, who will likely enter the 2027 NFL Draft.
