While there was a lot of good news to come out of the A-Day scrimmage, Alabama unfortunately suffered some bad news as well.
The No. 1 goal with spring practice is to escape it without any injuries that will linger into the fall. That won't happen for the Crimson Tide.
NC State transfer WR Noah Rogers went down with an injury during the scrimmage, and fans immediately feared the worst. Rogers was carted to the locker room with a brace on his leg. Kalen DeBoer confirmed those fears on Monday while talking with Ryan Fowler:
"Unfortunately, he suffered an injury that's going to take a little while to recover. It will lead into the season a little bit ... he won't be ready to go right when the season starts," DeBoer said.
Noah Rogers suffered an injury that will keep him out for a while, according to Kalen DeBoer
Rogers was in line to start for Alabama at WR next to Ryan Coleman-Williams and Lotzeir Brooks. Now that No. 3 WR spot is wide open, and returning players Rico Scott and Derek Meadows, along with freshman Cederian Morgan, will duke it out in the fall for that slot. All three will be counted on, however.
Alabama's depth behind those five is questionable, to say the least. The rest of Alabama's scholarship WRs include a former walk-on (MJ Chirgwin), a JUCO transfer (Tyler Henderson), and two unheralded freshmen who were late adds to the 2026 high school class (MJ Mathis, Aubrey Walker).
From a numbers and experience perspective, any further injuries to the WR room could be devastating for the Crimson Tide and force a fundamental change to DeBoer's offensive philosophy.
How long Rogers will be out remains to be seen. But if it's an injury that is going to bleed into the season, then he'll miss all the valuable fall camp reps and be behind the eight-ball from everyone else as he continues to learn a new system while gaining chemistry with Keelon Russell and Austin Mack.
Hopefully, Rogers will recover fully and be able to contribute at some point in 2026.
