Labaron Philon wasn't ready to talk about it yet.
The season had just ended, and despite a valiant effort from the Tide's star sophomore, who dropped 35 points, Alabama came up short against Michigan in the Sweet 16.
He knows he has a decision to make about his basketball future, but he has been so dialed into Alabama's NCAA Tournament run that he hasn't given it much thought.
And that's okay. Philon might not be ready to discuss it, but Nate Oats had no problem doing so.
"He said he's got a decision to make. I don't really think he's got much of a decision," Oats said. ... He made himself a lot of money this year."
Labaron Philon has likely played his last game in an Alabama uniform
And what a last game it was. Michigan was the better team, but there was no better player on the court on Friday night in Chicago than Philon.
Even against one of the best defenses in the country, and with little help from his supporting cast, Philon put together an elite performance, one that won't be soon forgotten by Alabama fans.
He scored 35 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists. He single-handedly kept the Crimson Tide in the game and prevented it from ever becoming an outright blowout.
Philon's last-minute decision a year ago to return for his sophomore season instead of staying in the NBA Draft proved fruitful for both him and Alabama. The Crimson Tide would not have made it to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament for a fourth straight year without Philon.
And after a season that culminated with a third-team All-American nod, Philon has seen his stock jump from the late first/early second round range into potentially the lottery. Even in a loaded draft class, Philon has proven to be one of the best prospects available.
And Oats is right. His decision isn't a decision at all. Friday night's Sweet 16 loss to Michigan was it for Philon in an Alabama uniform.
And it was a fitting end to a brilliant two-year run in Tuscaloosa for the Mobile native.
