Josh Cuevas spent this past season being the safety blanket for Ty Simpson at Alabama, and now he'll get the chance to do that at the next level with one of the NFL's best quarterbacks.

With the 173rd overall pick in the 5th Round, the Baltimore Ravens selected Cuevas. The Alabama TE became the 7th Crimson Tide player selected, the third in the fifth round alone, and the fourth day three selection overall:

Josh Cuevas joins a long list of Alabama players drafted by the Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens have been an NFL pipeline for Alabama over the years. Tide legend Ozzie Newsome ran the franchise's front office for many years, and his fingerprints remain all over the roster building in Baltimore.

Cuevas is the 13th player drafted by the Ravens all-time, the most by any one school.

Cuevas will join Derrick Henry and Marlon Humphrey as active members of the Ravens from Alabama.

Cuevas began his college football journey at Cal Poly before transferring to Washington. After one year in Seattle, he joined Kalen DeBoer and headed to Tuscaloosa.

The Los Angeles native spent the last two seasons at Alabama. He was a role player in 2024 behind CJ Dippre and Robbie Ouzts before becoming Alabama's No. 1 TE in 2025. He had an outstanding season, producing 411 yards and four touchdowns despite dealing with a significant foot injury later in the season.

Cuevas bounced back from breaking his foot in November to make a miraculous return for the Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff. He combined to catch seven passes for 70 yards in the Tide's two playoff games against Oklahoma and Indiana.

He was a versatile weapon for Alabama in the passing game and as a blocker. He functioned as Simpson's safety blanket throughout the season and was a major part of the Crimson Tide's offense.

Now, he'll look to become the same for Lamar Jackson at the next level as he joins a crowded TE room in Baltimore.
