Though projections are likely to change again before the women's tournament selection show, the current projection of where and who the Alabama women could play is as favorable a matchup as you can get in the NCAA tournament.
After ending their three-game losing streak this past Sunday with a tough win over Florida, the Crimson Tide is still projected to be a 6-seed going to Fort Worth with a possible matchup against TCU to get to the second weekend, instead of the previous prediction that had this team going to Durham with a possible matchup against Duke to reach the Sweet 16.
Though things can change between now and after conference tournaments, it does seem likely that Kristy Curry's team will be on the six-line, though a win or two in next week's SEC Tournament would help make so there is not a chance of dropping.
As of now, this team is projected to play Arkansas on the first day of the SEC Tournament, and if they get another win over the Hogs, will play a tough Kentucky team that they also beat during the regular season. The Wildcats will be a tough team to beat twice in the same season, but anything is possible if Jessica Timmons and Ta'Mia Scott keep scoring as they did against the Gators. Based on current projections, that is as far as I possibly see this team going in Greeneville next week, as South Carolina on Friday in the quarterfinals is never going to be a good matchup.
Obviously, the goal for this team is to reach the Sweet 16, and based on Charlie Creme's current projections, the Crimson Tide will have to beat Rice and then the winner of TCU/Idaho. The Horned Frogs are a talented team and really play well at home, so one would think this is who we would play in the Round of 32.
There are no easy matchups in the second round, but this is the most favorable matchup out of the current 3-seeds, even with Olivia Miles, who is a walking bucket.
A couple of wins in Greeneville and a second weekend appearance would do wonders for the Alabama Women's program for the foreseeable future.
