With Anderson Diaz reclassifying from the 2027 class into the 2026 and joining Alabama basketball for this upcoming season, Nate Oats and company are back to zero commitments for this recruiting cycle.

But it's still early, and that doesn't mean that the Crimson Tide hasn't been hard at work making inroads with some of the nation's top players.

With so much of the focus on wings and bigs this past offseason, Oats and Preston Murphy appear to be making a significant push for guards in 2027. It makes sense, with Amari Allen likely jumping to the NBA after the season and Aden Holloway being a rising senior.

Alabama already had visits set up with elite guard prospects Chase Lumpkin and RJ Moore. They just added another on Thursday.

Per Joe Tipton, 4-star Devin Cleveland out of La Porte, Indiana, will visit the Crimson Tide on September 18th:

It doesn't take much research to figure out why Oats and Alabama would have a high level of interest in Cleveland. Per 247's Adam Finkelstein, Cleveland shot 47% from three-point range during the EYBL Scholastic season.

Cleveland's shot selection has been described as questionable; that's something that Oats and his staff would work with him on if he decided to land in Tuscaloosa.

Cleveland is ranked as the No. 34 overall player in the 247 composite and a consensus 4-star recruit who could potentially push his way up to 5-star status during his senior season of high school basketball.

While Cleveland recently released a list of seven schools still alive in his recruitment, he's only set up four visits so far. Along with his trip to Alabama, he'll make a trip to TCU (9/24), Missouri (10/3), and Michigan (11/6). Arkansas, Marquette, and Syracuse are the other three schools on his list.

Oats has consistently landed some of the best recruiting classes in the country during his time in Tuscaloosa, doing so without high-end NIL money at his disposal. As frustrated as Alabama fans were to lose former in-state star Caleb Holt to Arizona in the 2026 cycle, Oats still came away with the No. 6 overall class in the composite, highlighted by composite 5-stars Qayden Samuels and Jaxon Richardson.

There's little doubt that Oats will have the Crimson Tide in position to land another elite class in the 2027 cycle. Who they ultimately land remains to be seen, but there will be more high-level talent on the way to Tuscaloosa in this class.
