Nate Oats' top priority this offseason for Alabama was revamping the frontcourt and getting bigger, meaner, and more physical on the interior.
With Alabama's latest pickup in the portal, that mission is now accomplished.
Boise State transfer forward/center Drew Fielder announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide on Monday after visiting Alabama over the weekend. Fielder is the fourth commitment in Alabama's Transfer Portal class, and the third frontcourt player.

Boise State transfer Drew Fielder commits to Alabama
Fielder joins an Alabama portal haul that includes Kentucky's Brandon Garrison, Mississippi State's Jamarion Davis-Fleming, and NC State's Cole Cloer.
Garrison and Davis-Fleming are frontcourt types, and Fielder will join that group to make a strong trio of additions for Oats and company.
Fielder brings a different skillset than Garrison and Davis-Fleming. While they are the more athletic, rim-protecting types, Fielder is a stretch 4/5 who will likely land in the starting lineup next to one of them next season.
After beginning his career and playing two seasons for Georgetown, Fielder transferred to Boise State last year. In his only season with the Broncos, he averaged 14.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while knocking down 40.9% of his three-point attempts.
Alabama lost Aiden Sherrell and Taylor Bol Bowen in the Transfer Portal this offseason, and Noah Williamson exhausted his eligibility. While none of the three are as good as Sherrell was, it doesn't take a major leap to believe the Crimson Tide upgraded when you consider it a three-for-three trade.
The Transfer Portal closes at midnight tomorrow night, and if Alabama doesn't lose anyone else in the meantime, Oats still has three roster spots to work with. One will be held for Amari Allen, who announced his decision to enter the NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility on Sunday night. The door will remain open for him to pull a Labaron Philon and return for his sophomore season.
Alabama may not use both of the final spots, but it would make sense for Oats to peruse the portal to try and find a guard as a potential backup to Aden Holloway/insurance for if Holloway can't play next year and/or Allen stays in the draft.
Alabama's roster looks deep and talented, but there's a clear need for an additional ball handler/offensive initiator that Oats will likely try to find without breaking the bank.
