Alabama has yet to add a commitment in the 2026 class, but as the 2025 recruiting and transfer portal cycles come to a close, the 2026 cycle is beginning to heat up. Nate Oats, no surprise, is in the mix for multiple top prospects as he looks to secure the future of his program with another quality recruiting class.
On Wednesday, it was announced that Alabama had secured an official visit for October 3 from five-star guard Caleb Holt. One of the top players in the 2026 class, the 6-foot-5 Prolific Prep product will also visit Auburn, Kansas, and Kentucky. Then, progress in the 2026 class continued late Wednesday night when Alabama got news that it is a finalist for four-star guard Katrelle Harmon.

Alabama listed as a finalist for 2026 4-star guard Katrelle Harmon
The 6-foot-4 guard from Mount Pleasant, Utah, and Wasatch Academy is the 68th-ranked overall player in the 2026 class. He is a top 10 combo guard in the class and a 247Sports Composite four-star.
Alabama offered Harmon on June 29, and quickly made the cut as one of his finalists as he inches closer to a commitment. Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M were the other SEC programs to offer Harmon, but are seemingly out of the race. While he’s not on the caliber of Holt, Harmon would be a significant building block for Oats and his staff.
With Labaron Philon opting out of the NBA Draft to return to Tuscaloosa and play alongside Aden Holloway for another season, Alabama is set with a familiar backcourt.
Much of the Tide’s offseason additions were focused on the frontcourt, bringing in 7-foot center Noah Williamson from Bucknell, 6-foot-10 forward Taylor Bol Bowen from Florida State, and 6-foot-7 forward Keitenn Bristow from Tarleton State. Former Miami guard and 2024 five-star recruit Jalil Bethea was the only backcourt addition in the transfer portal ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Alabama’s 2025 high school had a similar dynamic with three forwards and just one guard. Philon is expected to make the jump to the NBA after next season, and Holloway could follow or enter his final year of eligibility. If he delivers on his potential, even Bethea could be heading for the league. So, it may not be a coincidence that the biggest recruiting news for Alabama this week is about two 6-foot-4 combo guards in the 2026 class.
Oats still needs to close the deal with Holt and Harmon, but the Tide appear to be laying a good foundation with two recruits who make sense for the trajectory of their program.
