As we all know by now, the one and only Donald Trump likes to work quick when something crosses his mind. Such is the case with him all set to launch a Presidential Commission on college sports. It looks like Trump wants to be more involved with what's going on for student-athletes across the country.
Who better to have him take on a big role for this than Alabama football legend and arguably the best college coach of all time in Nick Saban, right? As it turns out, that's something Trump would agree with. On Wednesday night, breaking news has come via The Athletic that Trump is planning to hire Saban as his co-chair. Not only that, the expectation per the report is that Saban will be working with a 'prominent businessman with deep ties to college athletics' as his partner. Well then:
Nick Saban is expected to be named co-chair of the Presidential Commission on college sports, along with a “prominent businessman with deep ties to college athletics," a source told @TheAthletic.

Nick Saban’s political turn: What his new role with Donald Trump means for sports
Saban and Trump, who will be actively involved, get along quite well together and the two were both speakers at Alabama's spring commencement ceremony last week. When it comes to college sports, Saban is known for being quite passionate about trying to get done what's best for young men and women.
According to a recent article from the Wall Street Journal, Saban urged Trump to get involved with how college sports are being run, with NIL completely changing the game. Saban left Alabama in January of 2024, but he has said that NIL/paying athletes had nothing to do with his decision.
However, Saban has voiced on multiple occasions that he doesn't love the new landscape and he has apparently voiced how he feels to Trump. This has caused the president to get more involved in things, which has led to this most-recent breaking news.
Following his coaching career in Tuscaloosa, Saban was hired by ESPN as an analyst, winning over even more fans each week. His commentary and analysis for football games was priceless, which no question led to more people tuning in. Now, though, Saban is going to have another job to focus on and he's going to be ready to work closely with Trump. This is something plenty of Alabama fans probably didn't see coming when he retired last year, but here we are.
