The Alabama Football team has made solid work on the recruiting trail under Kalen DeBoer as they currently hold the Nation's eighth-ranked recruiting class with ten commitments heading into the summer. The one position everyone cares about the most is the one where the Crimson Tide have yet to land a commitment with no quarterback commited.
Early on in the Kalen DeBoer era, it appeared Alabama had its eyes set on flipping a few quarterbacks with USC commit Julian Lewis, Notre Dame commit Deuce Knight, and Texas commit KJ Lacey. Over the past few months however, it appears the Crimson Tide have a new top target in SMU commit Keelon Russell.
Russell is the Nation's eighth-ranked quarterback and the 75th overall player in the country playing for Duncanville in Texas. In Keelon Russell, Kalen DeBoer likely sees a game very similar to Jalen Milroe's as Russell can beat opponents with his legs and as a passer. The area where Russell will need to improve at the next level similar to Milroe is when it comes to processing and reading a defense.
The Tide have seemingly made Russell a top priority offering him a scholarship in April while they plan to host him on an official visit this week.
If the Tide are going to land Keelon Russell they'll need to flip him away from his in-state school SMU while holding off other potential suitors in Florida and Oregon.
Russell spoke on potentially flipping his commitment from SMU to Alabama by saying the following:
"I feel like Bama just has everything a Quarterback wants."Keelon Russell
Heading into the summer recruiting period, the Alabama Football team has to feel as if they're the team to beat in terms of flipping Keelon Russell. The Crimson Tide will get the first crack at flipping Russell as he'll be on campus for the first week of summer workouts. Landing a quarterback would be massive for Alabama's 2025 recruiting class as the quarterback typically attracts plenty of other offensive talent.
Massive Summer recruiting period ahead for the Crimson Tide
The Alabama Football team has a pivotal summer ahead in terms of recruiting for both the 2025 and 2026 classes. This weekend, Alabama Football commits Zymear Smith and Derick Smith and eight four-star recruits. The following weekend will bring Duke Johnson into town along with six Alabama Targets. The week of June 14th-16th will bring in ten recruits with plenty of talent to follow the rest of the month.
