Alabama Football: Top Transfer Target for Alabama enters portal
The Alabama Football team has a new top target that entered the transfer portal today in former USC Trojan cornerback Domani Jackson. Jackson was a top-five player in the 24/7 sports composite in the class of 2022 and the second-ranked cornerback behind Travis Hunter. Jackson chose the Trojans over Alabama in 2022 as new head coach Lincoln Riley kept the California native in state. If Jackson decides to leave California, Alabama should be one of the front runners for Jackson and will most likely highly pursue him.
The Alabama Football team will have big shoes to fill at cornerback this offseason as Kool-Aid Mckinstry and Terrion Arnold will most likely leave Alabama in favor of the NFL Draft. Outside of Alabama Football, the program to watch will be Georgia. Jackson's position coach Donte Williams just left USC to fill the same role for the Bulldogs. At Alabama, Jackson would have every opportunity to start. There will be heavy turnover in the secondary, as McKinstry, Arnold, and Malachi Moore could move on to playing on Sundays.
Through two seasons in College Football, Domani Jackson hasn't lived up to the hype yet, however, it's harder on a defense that struggled as much as USC's did this season. In two seasons of College Football Jackson's recorded 37 tackles and four passes defended. Under Kevin Steele and Cornerbacks coach Jay Valai Jackson could hit the peaks he once expected to hit and see himself become a top draft prospect like Terrion Arnold and Kool-Aid Mckinstry have under Valai.
Alabama Football: Top destination for top transfers
The Alabama Football program will be the most attractive destination for most of the country's top transfers this winter. As a program that's still competing for a national championship while returning both coordinators, a Heisman contender at quarterback, and plenty of talent on both sides of the football it's pretty clear Alabama will be in contention in 2024. Texas A&M transfers Fadil Diggs and LT Overton came to visit this past weekend while many top transfers are still expected to visit Tuscaloosa in the weeks to come. The Crimson Tide has big holes to fill at edge rusher and cornerback two of the deepest positions in the transfer portal this offseason.
