Alabama Football: Two Tide Centers into the Transfer Portal
The Alabama Football team will lose its starting center Seth McLaughlin to the transfer portal as McLaughlin intends to transfer. The center has played in 35 games in his Alabama Football career starting in 24 of them. McLauglin's issue this season was snapping the ball as low snaps plagued the Alabama Football team all season, especially in the Iron Bowl and the Rose Bowl.
The issue for Nick Saban and his staff will be replacing McLaughlin as the team fully expected him to return after this season. The Alabama Football team will have few options because shortly after the news about McLaughlin came out, it was learned Terrence Ferguson had decided to transfer as well. The only true remaining, scholarship center on the roster is James Brockermeyer, who played in mop-up duty in two of the Alabama Football team's wins this season. There has been conjecture by Alabama football insiders that Roq Montgomery might be moved to the center position for next season.
This year's recruiting class also has a few options which could be a massive competition with Center and Right Tackle being the easiest positions for a new player to jump into right away with vacancies at both.
This is a sour ending between McLaughlin and the Alabama Football program. A lot of the reasoning to transfer was likely the blame and backlash that McLaughlin faced over a few bad plays in two seasons of starting.
Alabama Football: Transfers to leave in bunches ahead of January 6th deadline
The Alabama Football team will continue to see massive transfer numbers ahead of the January 6th transfer window closing. Since the end of the Rose Bowl, the Alabama Football team has already lost Shazz Preston, Seth McLaughlin, and Dallas Turner who announced his NFL Draft plans. The openings at positions like center will lead to Nick Saban examining potential replacements from the transfer portal like when he brought in LT Overton from Texas A&M. The next names to watch are Terrion Arnold and Chris Braswell who both can either return to the team or enter the NFL Draft with their decisions seemingly toss-ups.
