For a big game like Alabama vs. Georgia, neither fanbase nor the neutral observers want to see severe weather impact the game. Last week, with a tropical storm and potential hurricane forming in the Gulf, it looked like weather was going to be a factor when Georgia came to Tuscaloosa this Saturday night.
While we aren't out of the woods yet, Alabama's most respected and trusted weatherman, James Spann, provided a positive update Monday morning that has a lot of folks breathing a sigh of relief:
MONDAY MORNING NOTES…
— James Spann (@spann) September 23, 2024
*NHC will likely initiate potential tropical cyclone advisories later today for the disturbance which should become Hurricane Helene.
*Landfall will likely come Thursday along the Florida Gulf Coast. Highest landfall probabilities are from Apalachicola… pic.twitter.com/MMACq7Wdg7
According to Spann, the rain this Saturday should be scattered, no heavy storms or heavy wind, and the rain shouldn't be all that heavy.
Better forecasts will be coming in the next couple of days to give us a better idea about the weather forecast this weekend, but today's update is a positive sign that the tropical storm shouldn't have too much of an impact on one of the biggest games of the college football season.
Rain and wind tend to lead to fluky results, and neither team wants a fluky type of game. These two titans want to line up, buckle their chin straps, and see who emerges from Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday night with an unblemished resume, with no excuses coming from the other fanbase.
