This Summer, there has been no bigger winner than Kalen DeBoer on the recruiting trail as the Alabama Football team has had the best Summer of any program. This summer has seen Kalen DeBoer land Elite 11 MVP Keelon Russell, three of the Nation's top offensive linemen in Michael Carroll, Micah DeBose, and Jackson Lloyd, defensive star Chuck McDonald, Wolf Dawson Merritt, and two three-star recruits in London Simmons and Mal Waldrep.
The question has been when Kalen DeBoer will finally reel in a five-star recruit to headline this recruiting class. The question has now been answered as the Alabama Football team has landed five-star cornerback Dijon Lee. Lee is ranked by On3's industry ranking as the 30th-ranked player in the country and the fifth-best cornerback in the class.
Kalen DeBoer and Courtney Morgan's West Coast connections come through again as the Crimson Tide lands the top player in California while holding commitments from Chuck McDonald the 7th-ranked player in California, and Jackson Lloyd the 11th-ranked player in the state.
In landing Dijon Lee the Tide had to beat out Georgia as this was seemingly a two-team race while in-state USC and Washington made this a tough commitment to land. Landing Lee puts Alabama right on the heels of Ohio State for the top recruiting class in the country jumping Georgia and LSU into the second ranking.
Defensively this class is loaded despite Kalen DeBoer being known for his offensive prowess. The Tide now holds commitments from five top-100 defenders in Lee, Dawson Merritt, Derick Smith, Chuck McDonald, and Duke Johnson.
First of Many Five Stars this Cycle for Kalen DeBoer?
The Crimson Tide now have their first five-star commitment in the Kalen DeBoer era but, this may not be the last five-star this cycle. For starters, Keelon Russell coming off of winning the Elite 11 MVP and the Rivals Five-Star Challenge is going to end this cycle most likely as a 5-star. Kalen DeBoer is also in a great position to land five stars Ty Haywood, Caleb Cunningham, and Kaliq Lockett. The Tide have now entered contention to land the Nation's top recruiting class something many wouldn't have believed when Nick Saban retired.
