Alabama Football got nicked by the injury bug the last time they were on the field against the Wisconsin Badgers with defensive starters Malachi Moore and Qua Russaw, as well as third-string RB Richard Young, getting banged up and leaving the game.

On Monday, head coach Kalen DeBoer spoke with the media and provided updates on those three, as well as WR Cole Adams who suffered an injury during the USF game and missed the contest with Wisconsin.

On Moore, DeBoer said:

"I would expect Malachi, that was just a matter of time, working through his situation. He’s out there practicing already at the end of last week"

Moore left the game in concussion protocol in the second half against Wisconsin and didn't return. Based on DeBoer's comments, he should be good to go for Saturday night in Tuscaloosa, a huge boost for a young and inexperienced secondary.

On Russaw, DeBoer said:

"With Qua, still taking the steps, still working through his situation. I’m optimistic with Qua. We’ll just have to see as we evaluate throughout the week."

DeBoer's comments point more toward Russaw being questionable at this point in the week, but with five days before gameday, there's still a lot that can change. Russaw left the Wisconsin game in the second quarter after getting rolled up on by a teammate. DeBoer said last week that the injury wouldn't be a long-term thing, but it's still up in the air whether he will be able to go on Saturday night.

If Russaw isn't available, then expect more early-down reps for Que Robinson, who has been used mostly in obvious passing situations this year and leads the team with three sacks. Keau Koht would also likely see an increased role.

DeBoer mentioned that WR Cole Adams has returned to practice, but not yet in full capacity. They are also working Richard Young back slowly, and he mentioned that he wants to avoid any setbacks for any of the players.

DeBoer will update the media again later this week, and will undoubtedly be asked again about the availability of those dealing with lingering injuries.
