Nick Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium Officially Unveiled
The University of Alabama officially unveiled Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium in a pre-game ceremony on the Walk of Champions this afternoon. Alabama unveiled a sign in front of the stadium prominently displaying "Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium."
Saban gave a brief speech to a large gathering of fans before removing the crimson veil covering the new sign with the assistance of his wife Terry and his grandson.
Saban dominated college football over his 17-year run in Tuscaloosa, leading the Crimson Tide to six national championships and 10 SEC championships. Saban retired in January, just a little over a week after Alabama fell to Michigan in the College Football Semifinals at the Rose Bowl.
Along with the on-field dominance, Saban mentioned multiple times today on Gameday and in his speech on the Walk of Champions about the 668 degrees that were earned by Tide football players during his time as the head coach.
Earlier on College Gameday, the crew surprised Saban with a video montage of several former Tide players congratulating the legendary coach on the field being named in his honor.
There was also signage added inside Bryant-Denny Stadium, which Tide beat reporter Chase Goodbread got a photo of:
There will be another on-field ceremony for Saban that will take place at halftime of Alabama's matchup with USF on Saturday night.
