Last week, Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson may have blown his chances at winning the Heisman Trophy after a less-than-ideal performance against the Oklahoma Sooners. However, not all hope is lost, and Alabama OC Ryan Grubb knows the problems will be fixed sooner than later.

In the loss to the Sooners, Simpson threw an interception, but the bigger glaring issue was his fumble, his fifth of the season, which is tied for the most in the entire country.

In a mid-week press conference, Grubb shared that he is more than confident Simpson will fix the issue, especially before the Tide takes on their rivals, the Auburn Tigers, in the Iron Bowl.

Ty Simpson wants to fix his issues more than anyone else

"Ty knows, and was frustrated about, is gotta get the ball out of his hand," Grubb said. "Ty knows that. He’s beating himself up more than anybody."

It has been a repeated theme and message that Simpson expects more from himself than anybody else on the team or in the country, and he constantly strives to be better than he was the day before.

Grubb's message that Simpson knows he needs to fix his fumbling problem is a continuation of that, and it's evident that the veteran quarterback becomes increasingly frustrated with himself as he makes mistakes in a game.

Simpson and the Tide have two weeks to fix any problems that remain before they take on the Tigers, as they host the Eastern Illinois Panthers on Saturday, Nov. 22.

So, Simpson has some time to fix his fumbling issue and cement it in his mind that he must get the ball out of his hands before the pressure gets to him in the pocket. While Auburn may not pose a massive threat to the Tide, the result of a rivalry matchup is always up in the air.

This week, No. 10 Alabama (8-2 overall) and Eastern Illinois (3-8 overall) are scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, Nov. 22, and the game will air on the SEC Network+.
