The usually poised and unflappable Ty Simpson was far from his best form as he and the Alabama Crimson Tide lost to the Oklahoma Sooners.
Simpson, a quarterback who had thrown 21 touchdowns and just one interception all season, completed less than 67 percent of his pass attempts for a disappointing single touchdown and his second INT of the year.
Simpson was also sacked four times throughout the game, losing nine total yards on the ground, despite earning a few positive carries. He also fumbled the ball in the second half, and it was recovered by Oklahoma linebacker Kendal Daniels.
Ty Simpson no longer Heisman favorite
After an incredible start to his time as the Crimson Tide's starting quarterback, Simpson's performance against Oklahoma saw his odds to win the Heisman Trophy at the end of the regular season fall through the floor.
As someone who was just the favorite to win the award for the best player in the country, Simpson is now 10th in the standings, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Leading the charge is Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, followed by Ohio State QB Julian Sayin and Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed.
Simpson now has +15,000 odds to win the award according to oddsmakers, while Mendoza stands at +100 and Sayin is at +200 to win.

The Alabama quarterback looked as flustered as he had ever been as the Sooners pressured him on snap after snap, and he simply couldn't find his footing against the Oklahoma pass rush. It may have taken just one relatively abysmal performance to officially knock him out of Heisman contention.
Of course, Simpson and the Crimson Tide have two more games remaining in the regular season: a home matchup against the Eastern Illinois Panthers, and a road trip to Auburn for the annual Iron Bowl rivalry game.
The ease with which Simpson fell out of Heisman contention could happen to any of the nine players currently ranked ahead of him, but only time will tell.
On Saturday, Nov. 22, Simpson will get his first chance at redemption as Alabama and Eastern Illinois kick off at 1 p.m. CT. One week later, they will take on the Auburn Tigers.
