Ryan Williams is silencing the critics with monster performance vs. Wisconsin

Star sophomore Ryan Williams endured plenty of criticism in Alabama's loss to Florida State. After missing last week, he's back with a vengeance against Wisconsin.

Ryan Williams dealt with plenty of criticism for his role in Alabama's season-opening loss to Florida State. Before being knocked out of the game with a concussion, Williams only produced five catches for 30 yards and was credited with three drops.

Williams missed last week's win over UL Monroe. We predicted a big game in his return against Wisconsin, and that has come to fruition.

Williams caught three passes for 49 yards in the first half, but he exploded in the second half. He scored a 75-yard touchdown on a screen pass on the first play of the third quarter thanks to a creative design by Ryan Grubb. Williams had the entire offensive line in front of him - he did the rest.

On the next drive, Williams caught a pass from Simpson, broke a defender's ankles with a Jerry Jeudy-esque cut, and then ran into the endzone for his second touchdown of the afternoon, this one from 41 yards out:

Williams is up to 5 catches for 165 yards and the two touchdowns. It's his first 100+ yard receiving game since his spectacular performance against Georgia in September of last season.

Ryan Williams remains one of college football's premier players

Despite the criticism he has received for an extended slump - and the ridiculous off-the-field narratives - Williams is still one of the best players in the country. He's more than worth the $1.8 million in NIL money he is set to make this season.

His body control is as elite as it gets - there are only a handful of guys who have ever played who can make that move on the sideline he did for his second touchdown.

With Williams back to playing to the level he's capable of, Germie Bernard's early-season brilliance, and guys like Isaiah Horton and Lotzeir Brooks making plays here and there, this WR corps looks just as good as many believed it could be in the preseason.

Ty Simpson continues to get more comfortable in the pocket in his third start. He's been dealing against the Badgers, leading the Crimson Tide to a big lead as we approach the fourth quarter.

Williams is the leader of the pack at WR still, but defenses are going to continue to have nightmares going against this aerial attack of the Crimson Tide. There are too many weapons - and too few answers for opposing defensive coordinators.
