Former Alabama football QB Jalen Milroe is at the Senior Bowl this week and he will be the most scrutinized prospect taking part in the All Star game in Mobile. Milroe has plenty of believers, some of which view him as a Top 5 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. His detractors, of which there are numerous, don't believe he will ever be a viable starting quarterback in the NFL.

Day one of Senior Bowl week delivered news that will only further strengthen the argument of Milroe's detractors.

Milroe's measurables were taken. At 6'1" 220 pounds, there's nothing overly concerning with his height and weight. He doesn't have the height that makes him prototypical, but he clears the 6-foot barometer.

No, the concerning measurable is his hand size.

His hand size of 8 3/4 will certainly give pause to teams considering mortgaging their future to take him in the first round. No starting quarterback in the NFL has hands under 9 inches.

Small hands didn't prevent former Pittsburgh QB Kenny Pickett from being drafted in the first round by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2022 NFL Draft, but Pickett flamed out as a starting QB in the NFL rather quickly. He's now the backup to Jalen Hurts in Philadelphia.

Now, this isn't a death blow for Milroe's hopes of being a first-round draft pick, but it's the first strike against him in the underwear olympics of the pre-draft process.

For Alabama fans, it also is an explainer as to why Milroe seemingly had so much trouble hanging onto the football. Milroe lost six fumbles in 13 games this season. For a quarterback whose biggest strength is his athleticism and ability to run the football, smaller hands and being fumble-prone are major negatives.
