Suspended Alabama football LB files paperwork to enter transfer portal
A suspended Alabama football LB will not be rejoining the team as it was reported on Tuesday that he was filing paperwork to enter the NCAA's transfer portal.
Redshirt junior Keanu Koht did not make the trip to Baton Rouge for Alabama's clash with LSU and the Monday after it was announced by head coach Kalen DeBoer that Koht had been suspended and would not play against Mercer.
There was no timetable announced or a reason given for Koht's suspension by DeBoer. But now it appears that Koht will not be returning to the team and will intend to enter the transfer portal and seek a new opportunity for 2025.
Koht's decision comes in the wake of Alabama losing Que Robinson for the remainder of the season with an injury, which puts the Crimson Tide in a tight spot at the Wolf position. There's little in terms of experienced depth sitting behind starter Qua Russaw now.
Koht had yet to make a big impact in Tuscaloosa, but he was an experienced player in the program who could give the Crimson Tide quality snaps. With Koht gone and Robinson injured, Russaw will have to keep playing a higher number of snaps and young players like Yhonzae Pierre will be tasked with roles they may not be quite prepared for.
