It's been a nice recruiting week for Kalen DeBoer and Alabama football. The Crimson Tide recently landed commitments from priority 2027 targets Jatori Williams and Nash Johnson. Alabama also landed 2026 fast-rising OT Jared Doughty on Sunday morning.
If that wasn't good enough news, Alabama also saw four offensive commitments make announcements that their recruitments were completely shut down. QBs Jett Thomalla and Tayden Kaawa, along with 5-stars Cederian Morgan (WR) and EJ Crowell (RB).
The good news came in waves. But Alabama fans are greedy, and there's one name they would love to hear has completely shut down his recruitment.
4-star TE Mack Sutter, a Top-100 overall player and the No. 1 player in the state of Illinois, committed to the Crimson Tide back in June. That hasn't stopped other teams from trying to sway the Dunlap native, and one of his finalists has been pushing harder than others.
Ohio State is making a major push for Sutter, particularly in the aftermath of Buckeyes tight end commitment Corbyn Fordham flipping to Florida State. Ohio State has made Sutter a priority all along and will undoubtedly continue putting a full-court press on Sutter to try and flip him before the early signing period in December.
Keeping Mack Sutter in this class is a priority for Kalen DeBoer
Alabama's 2026 offensive class has the chance to be really special. With two 4-star QBs committed in Thomalla and Kaawa, along with a 5-star RB in Crowell and 5-star WR in Morgan, the skill positions are already littered with talent. That's not to mention a couple of underrated WRs in Brian Williams and Owen Cabell.
With Doughty joining the mix, Alabama also has four commitments on the offensive line. Hanging on to Sutter would give the Crimson Tide a well-rounded class on the offensive side of the ball.
Alabama landed two impressive tight ends in the 2025 class in Kaleb Edwards and Marshall Pritchett, both of whom have already carved out early roles with the Tide this season. Adding Sutter to the stable in Tuscaloosa would give DeBoer and OC Ryan Grubb one of the most talented tight end rooms in the entire country.
With talent all over the place at the other skill positions, adding another difference maker at tight end could help the offense reach another level.
