There aren't many players in the country who are easier to root for than Ty Simpson. The Alabama QB has always done things the right way. He waited for this opportunity and is taking full advantage of it. He got his moment in the spotlight on Saturday night in Athens, leading the Crimson Tide to a 24-21 win over Georgia, which put him firmly in the Heisman Trophy race. He's also beginning to generate significant NFL Draft buzz.

But before Simpson elevated himself into the upper echelon of the sport - and before he was Alabama's quarterback - he was a son. And despite all the support Simpson has within the Alabama fanbase, nobody has got you like your momma has got you.

Following Alabama's win over Georgia, cameras caught an emotional and heartfelt moment between Simpson and his mother. His mother embraces him, and all the noise and everyone around them just disappears. He's not Ty Simpsion, Alabama QB, and Heisman Trophy contender in that moment. There's no pressure. He's just a boy with his mother.

Just when you thought you couldn't love this kid any more than you already do.

Ty Simpson has earned everything he's getting right now

Simpson's path used to be the traditional one. You commit to a school, wait your turn, and get your opportunity as a third or fourth-year player. In the modern college football world with NIL and the Transfer Portal, Simpson's path has been anything but traditional.

Most former 5-star quarterbacks would have transferred by now in search of an opportunity to start somewhere else. It's rare for any player, particularly an elite QB recruit, to sit on the bench for three seasons.

But Simpson's patience has paid off. He's taking full advantage of his long-awaited opportunity. Sometimes, the best thing for a young quarterback is to sit and develop. And develop he has.

Against Georgia, Simpson looked like a quarterback in total command of his offense. He was making protection checks at the line of scrimmage, identifying what he was seeing pre-snap, and then adjusting post-snap as Kirby Smart consistently changed the picture once the ball was snapped.

Simpson is brimming with confidence right now. He has trust in his protection, and trust in his receivers, and he's letting the ball rip. He's making NFL-level throws every single week, and after dissecting Georgia in Athens, the competition narrative after he carved up UL Monroe and Wisconsin is now dead.

Simpson is not just the right quarterback for Alabama. He's proven that he's one of the very best in the entire country.
