After a third straight impressive performance that resulted in Alabama beating Georgia on the road, Ty Simpson is now one of the Heisman Trophy favorites.
Simpson was solid, but far from spectacular in Alabama's season-opening loss to Florida State. He looked like the game manager that most figured, but not the elevator that the Crimson Tide needed him to be. In the last three games, he's looked like the best quarterback in college football.
FanDuel updated its Heisman Trophy odds on Sunday morning. Simpson is now tied for the second-best odds behind Oregon QB Dante Moore at +1000. Simpson is tied with Miami QB Carson Beck and Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith.
Skeptics may have chalked up Simpson's dynamite performances against UL Monroe and Wisconsin as a product of lowered competition. But he carved up Kirby Smart and Georgia on Saturday night in Athens, particularly in the first half, leading Alabama to a 24-21 win in an environment that a road team had not won a game in since 2019.
Simpson completed 24-of-38 passes for 276 yards and three total touchdowns (2 passing, 1 rushing). He made big-time throws all night. His offensive line gave him time to throw, and he delivered. And the line deserves a ton of credit: Simpson was not sacked and was only pressured one time. He was kept upright, and he trusted that he would be.

Through four games, Simpson is completing 69% of his passes for 1138 yards with 13 total touchdowns. Simpson's stock is rising in the Heisman Trophy race, and he's starting to get on first-round NFL Draft radars.

Ty Simpson can take Alabama all the way
Simpson is getting more comfortable by the week. Any concern over the QB position is now gone. Simpson is the real deal. He'll give Alabama a chance in every single game. He's seeing the field and letting it rip, taking the coaching he was given after an uneven first start.
You can tell how much this means to him, too. Being the starting QB for Alabama is a dream come true for Simpson. He's not taking it for granted, and he's laying it all out on the line every week to reach the heights he dreamed of.
This is his team now. The locker room is fully behind him. He trusts the guys around him, and they all trust him.
Simpson is far from a game manager. He's the elevator Alabama didn't know it needed this season. He's the guy who can take Alabama all the way.
