Kalen DeBoer has picked up two recent commitments from 4-star quarterback Jett Thomalla, who flipped from Iowa State last week, and three-star defensive lineman JJ Finch, who joined the fray after completing his five official visits with the trip to Miami over the weekend. Still, with only nine commits in the 2026 class, which sits at No. 42 in the country, it’s been a sluggish start to the summer for Alabama on the recruiting trail, but the momentum is building.

Last summer, DeBoer parlayed a slow start to the official visit season into the No. 4 class in the country, and though that may seem unlikely right now, he and his staff have built a strong enough foundation to quickly vault up the national ranks. Especially with multiple four and five-star prospects scheduled to announce their commitments in the coming days.

Five-star cornerback Jorden Edmonds is still the headliner of Alabama’s 2026 class, the top-rated corner in the country according to 247Sports Composite. He is currently the Tide’s only five-star, but there could be more on the way.

Upcoming commitment dates for Alabama’s top recruiting targets

  • Ezavier Crowell, RB, 4-star: June 26
  • Mack Sutter, ATH, 4-star: June 26
  • Malakai Lee, OT, 4-star: June 27
  • Xavier Griffin, LB, 5-star: June 29
  • Cederian Morgan, WR, 5-star: July 2
  • Jireh Edwards, S, 5-star: July 5

Ezavier Crowell and Jireh Edwards have both been predicted to join the Crimson Tide throughout much of the recruiting process, but coming out of the final official visit weekend, Alabama picked up a prediction to land five-star Cederian Morgan, who may be the most important remaining uncommitted target.

Morgan visited Tuscaloosa over the weekend, after taking trips to Georgia, Florida, LSU, and Auburn. The 6-foot-4 receiver from Alexander City, Alabama, is the top-rated recruit in the state and the No. 12 overall player in the entire 2026 class. So, July 2 will be a day for Alabama fans to mark in their calendars.

UPDATE:

Though he’s long been predicted to commit to Alabama, Crowell’s June 26 date became more interesting on Monday after the commitment of four-star running back Javari Barnett, who flipped his commitment from Illinois after his official visit to Tuscaloosa became the program’s 10th commit.

Alabama is still expected to take two running backs in the class and should welcome Crowell along with Barnett, but with Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, and Texas still in the mix for Crowell, he could pull a commitment day surprise.
