WCWS logo snafu is wildly disrespectful to Patrick Murphy and Alabama softball

How do you possibly make this mistake?

You'd think being the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament would come with some perks. For Alabama softball, it has gotten them both a brutal Regional draw and now a challenging opening matchup in the Women's College World Series.

So be it. Patrick Murphy and his team aren't complaining about it.

But the latest sign of disrespect from the NCAA is a step too far, especially for a program as prestigious as Alabama softball, and one that enters the WCWS as one of the favorites to capture the national championship.

WVUA's Garry Harris posted a photo on his X account on Thursday ahead of Alabama's matchup against UCLA with a Capital One advertisement featuring the eight teams in the WCWS. Alabama - and Arkansas fans - were quick to notice that the logo that is supposed to represent the Crimson Tide is... most certainly not the Alabama script A:

The NCAA used Arkansas' logo instead of Alabama's logo on WCWS advertisement

Come on man!

What makes it even worse is that Arkansas is also in the WCWS, and they used the Razorback graphic to show them!

How hard is it to get the logos correct on an official graphic promoting your tournament? This isn't Alabama's first trip to Oklahoma City. It's the 16th time Murphy has brought the Crimson Tide to the WCWS! This program is a mainstay!

And even if it wasn't, the Alabama brand is extremely well known. It's arguably the most well-known brand in college athletics! The Script A is known far and wide. Alabama is an international brand.

It's unacceptable and a complete slap in the face to Murphy and his team. They've worked far too hard this season and sacrificed so much to get to this point. They deserved better. So did their families and swarms of Alabama fans who made the trip to Oklahoma City. Participating in the festivities before and after games and taking photos with your team's logo is part of the fun of traveling to these types of events.

Hopefully, this gets fixed quickly. That's the least of what has to happen. An apology to Murphy, the Alabama team, and all of its fans should be included, too.

Not that Alabama needed any extra motivation than what naturally comes from having the opportunity to compete for a national championship, but this could serve to help in lighting a fire for the Crimson Tide as they look to capture the second national title in program history.
