Through Week 4 of the college football season, no SEC football team has played more than two conference games. Four SEC teams are yet to play their first SEC game. There have been some big out-of-conference games and more games against cupcake teams. For all these reasons, Power Ranking SEC teams affords little clarity.

Before diving into the updated SEC Football Rankings, a reminder, "each week's rankings are a snapshot of 'now' and not a prediction of how teams will finish the season. They are not the product of a computer model and are unabashedly subjective."

Week Four SEC Football Power Rankings

  • No. 16 - Kentucky Wildcats (2-1) - Last week, No. 16 - Kentucky did not play in Week 4
  • No. 15 - Florida Gators (1-3) - Last week, No. 15 - Florida lost on the road to Miami, 26-7. The Gators' offense is dreadfully bad. Against the Canes, the Gators produced 61 passing yards and 80 rushing yards. They were 0-for-13 on 3rd down.
  • No. 14 - Arkansas Razorbacks (2-2) - Last week, No. 12 - On Saturday afternoon. Arkansas lost a road game to a good team by a single point. Why punish the Hogs so severely in the rankings? The Hogs have lost two straight road games. They could have and probably should have one each game. Saturday's 32-31 loss to Memphis is the more troubling. Arkansas led 28-17 at halftime. The Tigers pulled off the comeback for two reasons. One reason was 290 rushing yards in the game, for a 7.1-yard average. Even though the Hogs could not slow the rushing attack, it was three turnovers that doomed them. As happened against Ole Miss, a lost fumble turned the game.
  • No. 13 - South Carolina Gamecocks (2-2) - Last week, No. 14 - The Gamecocks lost 29-20 to Missouri in Columbia. Shane Beamer got a boost with LaNorriss Sellers coming back from last week's injury. The boost was not enough. Sellers had a big game, passing for 302 yards and two touchdowns. The glaring difference between the teams was South Carolina's net rushing yards of minus-9. Missouri rushed for 285 yards and added 171 yards from Beau Pribula's passes.
