Alabama got close, but ultimately didn't do enough to land 4-star DL Titan Davis. The St. Louis native committed to Michigan on Monday night, choosing the Wolverines over the Crimson Tide:

Davis had named Michigan and Alabama his final two a few weeks ago. He took an official visit to Tuscaloosa on the final weekend of May, and the Tide seemed to be in pretty good shape after that. But recruiting is fluid, and things changed for Davis after his visit to Ann Arbor this past weekend.
Michigan laid out the red carpet, and frankly were able to pitch to Davis DL development that no other team in the country can match recently.
The miss on Davis was made easier to stomach when 3-star DL JJ Finch from Indianapolis committed to the Tide on Sunday. Davis is more highly rated, but Finch had an impressive offer list and was coveted by many top programs, including the Wolverines.
Alabama also has a commitment from in-state 4-star DL Kamhaiyan Johnson. Bulking up the defensive line has been a priority for Kalen DeBoer and the staff in this class, and even after losing out on Davis, there's still plenty of meat on the bone with some top prospects still available.
4-star Nolan Wilson headlines Alabama's remaining DL targets
It will be full speed ahead for Alabama in the recruitment of 4-star Nolan Wilson from Picayune, Mississippi.
Alabama built a relationship with Wilson early, the first P4 program to offer him a scholarship. He took official visits to Alabama, home-state Ole Miss, Auburn, and most recently to Miami (FL). The Tide holds a slide lead in the On3 RPM - and he's taken more trips to Tuscaloosa than he has anywhere else - but closing the deal is far from a slam dunk.
DeBoer, DC Kane Wommack, and DL coach Freddie Roach are likely to put the full-court press on Wilson after losing out on Davis. He has long been coveted by the Alabama coaching staff, and that early love could pay off.
King George, VA 4-star Elijah Golden is another Alabama is in contention for. Golden took an official visit to Alabama on June 13th, but finished up his visit schedule last weekend in South Bend to see Notre Dame. The Irish are in the lead, per the On3 RPM, with Virginia Tech in second, and Alabama third.
It remains to be seen whether Alabama chooses to get more involved with 4-star in-state product Emanuel Ruffin from Bessemer. For a while, it has seemed likely that Ruffin would go out of state, as the Tide has not made him much of a priority. That could change with Davis off the board.
5-star Mobile native Anthony "Tank" Jones is listed as an edge rusher, and likely begins his career as a Wolf LB in Wommack's system, but he has the frame to potentially grow into more of a DE instead of a LB, which could mean he ultimately factors into Alabama's DL depth.
Jones was in Tuscaloosa this past weekend, along with fellow in-state 5-stars WR Cederian Morgan and RB Ezavier Crowell.
If Alabama can land Jones and Wilson, it will lessen the sting of Davis' decision to head north.
