Wednesday’s Crimson Tide Report is full…maybe even a little too full.  A lot has happened in the Alabama sports world in the last 24 hours, but don’t worry: BamaHammer is here to make sure you don’t miss any of the day’s top stories.

ICYMI: Alabama Baseball Evens Season Series Against Samford

Bama baseball beat Samford last night, and the SEC announced it will be using collaborative instant replay in the coming season. But I know right now, everyone only really cares about the arrests of two Crimson Tide players and whether or not Tom Brokaw will pay for his verbal sins. So, here ya go.

Alabama football’s Cam Robinson and Lawrence “Hootie” Jones were arrested early Tuesday morning in Monroe, Louisiana. Both the starting left tackle and safety carry misdemeanor charges of illegally carrying a weapon; Robinson tacked on an additional possession of a controlled/dangerous substance misdemeanor, and a felony charge of illegal possession of stolen firearms.

Most of the Greatest Legal Minds on Social Media (read: everyone with internet access) believe that Cam’s felony charge will be dropped to a misdemeanor because the state will have to prove that not only was he illegally carrying a stolen weapon, but also that Robinson was aware the firearm was stolen. Trying to prove that beyond a reasonable doubt could cause trouble for the prosecution, so many think that Cam will be able to plead out.

Regardless, it seems completely idiotic that a player with such potential would be so stupid as to do ANYTHING that could jeopardize not only his career with the Crimson Tide, but also his ability to continue playing in the NFL. We’ve seen that NFL teams don’t always care about a player’s background. Just look at Jameis Winston for an example. However, the upcoming season now hangs in the balance for Cam. You better believe every organization at the next level will be paying attention to his on and off the field behavior.

Nick Saban released a statement that simply acknowledged the arrests. He made no mention of any actions to be taken by the University or the Crimson Tide’s football program at this time.

In other news, Tom Brokaw is in hot water with some Alabama fans after comments at the Ole Miss graduation last weekend. The former NBC Nightly News anchor made jokes during his commencement speech, saying that were he speaking at Bama, he would have to use “smaller words” and “shorter sentences”.

Alabama fans were irate and took to social media to express their anger. Brokaw released a statement yesterday saying, “It was a joke, people”.

Brokaw has yet to apologize for the verbal slams knocking the intelligence of the Bama Nation, something that doesn’t sit well with any of us. After all, the words “National Championship” are pretty large, and we all know those better than ANY Ole Miss grad.

Good luck to you, Tom.  Joke or not, you should know not to rile the Crimson Tide faithful. You will not win.
